Daylong retreat w/ Kevin Griffin

On Saturday September 9th, Napa Valley Insight Meditation will host a daylong meditation entitled Living Kindness: Buddhist Teachings for a Troubled World. The event will be led by author, Buddhist teacher and innovator in the field of addiction treatment, Kevin Griffin.
Join us for a day of meditation and instructions on the power of loving kindness. In this daylong we will:
• Explore several Buddhist sutras that will open up our understanding of loving kindness.
• Practice metta as well as mindfulness meditation.
• Look at how these teachings and practices can transform the way we live in the world through commitment to non-ill will and selfless activity.
What to Bring: Please bring a lunch, beverage and appropriate clothing for outside walking meditation

Kevin Griffin is a Buddhist teacher and author and recovering addict/alcoholic. He is best known for his ground-breaking work bringing together the Dharma with issues of recovery and the 12 Steps. A Buddhist practitioner for nearly 35 years and sober for almost 30, he brings a wealth of experience and wisdom to his teaching and writing. His books include One Breath at a Time: Buddhism and the Twelve Steps and his recent Buddhism and the 12 Steps Workbook. Sounds True will release Recovering Joy: A Mindful Life after Addiction in June, 2015. Kevin is also a gifted musician and songwriter, and last year he released a CD of Buddhist-themed rock tunes entitled “Laughing Buddha.” He lives in Berkeley, California with his wife and teenage daughter.
